Location: Bristol (site based role - 4 day condensed weeks are also an option) Duration: 6 month initial contract Rate: GBP70ph UMB (Inside IR35) Role profile: Our client is looking for Software Engineers with expertise in C/C++ and Java to join their Defence and Security team in Bristol. They are developing cutting-edge solutions within their Mission Planning and Control Software Department, which involves creating desktop applications for systems, integrating products into third-party planning applications, and developing bespoke software components for launchers. Responsibilities: In conjunction with the rest of the project team, participate in the design, development, and proving activities for a launcher sub-system. To undertake a full range of engineering activities in line with relevant company processes and standards. Take ownership of features and contribute to system integration activities on a virtual test environment and potentially representative and deliverable hardware. Depending on your skills and experience, you may be involved in the whole development lifecycle, from architectural specification to testing and verification. Skillset/experience required: A Software Engineer capable of designing, developing and proving complex software products. The ability to communicate technical issues with other engineers and stakeholders from different skill areas. Experience operating as part of a collaborative Agile team. Knowledge of Software development practices and processes is required. Familiarity with a range of CI/CD/DevOps toolsets, including Jira, GitHub, and Jenkins. Mandatory knowledge of C++ or Core Java, with both being desirable. Desirable knowledge includes Java FX, QT, MISRA, and Google Test.
