About the role Balfour Beatty are looking for a Quality Manager to join our Regional Buildings Team who are leading the charge in delivering 5 MEP headhouses as part of the iconic HS2 project, Britain #39;s futuristic high-speed railway in the West Midlands. The Quality Manager will be a member of the Project Leadership Team and provide professional and technical functional leadership to project quality resources. They will be the project based quality expert practitioner, providing specialist support and a network of quality skills to support project/local BU delivery and medium to long term improvements What you #39;ll be doing Ensuring that the project plans for delivering Quality Products and Services Right First Time every time (both direct labour and through the supply chain), to support the external quality certification process and to drive the ldquo;Elimination of Waste rdquo; and reduction in the ldquo;Cost of Quality rdquo; all through: - Providing leadership to develop and deliver the project, SBU and BB quality strategies. Ensuring that the Project produce Quality Management Plan(s) and associated processes that deliver right first time and handover deliverables to project specification and requirements. Establishing and providing quality related training, coaching skills processes so that the project team and supply chain understands and manages the delivery of the project rsquo;s quality requirements Ensuring the Project processes meet or exceed the requirements of the BMS and the Gated Business Lifecycle and that any amendments are clearly stated in the Project Quality Plans Ensuring any projects systems are in place that allows the required specification to be clearly agreed and delivered Ensuring processes are in place that enable appropriate inspection and test plans to be planned, agreed, managed, and fully executed Establish and manage structured assurance and audit programme and activities to ensure that the Business and Project requirements are being met. Ensuring BBUK, specific SBU and Project Quality related KPIs and metrics are in place that drive defect-free delivery, management decision making and continuous improvement Supporting the delivery of Project and Business Stream quality programs and actions Managing document control to secure progressive assurance through project records Leading the establishment of defect Free Delivery continuous improvement culture Undertaking specific investigations and root cause analysis to drive structured improvement actions. Ensuring compliance to relevant ISO and other standards. Representing the project/business on external quality related activities Producing appropriate project quality reports and management information Living the Balfour Beatty Values. Ensuring a relentless focus on Zero Harm. Supporting the delivery of the Sustainability Strategy Who we #39;re looking for Specific requirements: The ability to provide leadership. Ability to build strong relationships with delivery teams and project managers. Substantial practical experience in quality management in construction or manufacturing. The ability to coach and develop staff in key quality management skills and build a quality management framework KPI measurement. Demonstrated root cause analysis and problem resolution capability. A formal qualification in Quality Management e.g., Diploma in Quality Management (UK Chartered Quality Institute, British Standards Institute or equivalent) Preferably trained ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or Internal Auditor Either a CQI Member or working towards membership Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma Has knowledge of quality related software applications applicable to the role and business unit. The following qualities/experience are also essential. Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts. Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion. Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner. Has good interpersonal and communication skills and acts in an independent and professional manner with the ability to influence others including senior management. Is a self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function. Has an enquiring and questioning approach to audit work. Can work within a multi-discipline team. Able to command respect across the project Is good at building relationships and can influence effectively. Can demonstrate initiative and resilience.
