Learning mentor

We have an opportunity available for a Learning Mentor to join our team based in Northwich. The post is full-time (37 hours per week) term time only and is temporary for two years in the first instance. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of GBP20,593-GBP21,679 per annum (GBP24,010.00 - GBP25,276.00 FTE). About the Learning Mentor role: Primarily the role involves delivering support strategies which will assist the student rsquo;s individual learning and social needs and their academic studies. You will also provide more wide-reaching support to all students at the College for example helping with revision strategies, time management and essay planning. Candidates will ideally have experience of working with students with special education needs and will need to have excellent communication skills, be able to use their initiative and have a calm demeanour. The Achievement and Support department is at the heart of the college and working as a Learning Mentor offers colleagues the opportunity to work within an experienced department and to make a real difference to students. The post is full time (37 hours per week) term time only and is temporary for two years in the first instance. Hours of work will be 8.30 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am to 4.00 pm on Fridays. Part time hours or flexible working arrangements may be considered for suitable candidates, please indicate your preferences on your application form. Your responsibilities as our Learning Mentor will include: Providing learning support for students in class and one to one situations Developing knowledge of the particular needs of the student and seek advice as appropriate Working with the subject teachers, parents, progress mentor and the Inclusion Manager regarding the needs of the student, including adaptations, materials and direct support are incorporated into lessons Liaising with student rsquo;s teachers, parents, progress mentors and the Inclusion Manager etc regarding the needs of the student, including adaptations, materials and direct support are incorporated into lessons Supporting the student in participating in teaching activities and any follow-up tasks e.g. group activities and homework Taking notes where required and prepare these in a way that enables the information to be accessed by the student Assisting the Inclusion Manager with monitoring achievement of the student, through the review process. Providing regular feedback about the student rsquo;s progress and any difficulties Delivering and implementing effective study support programmes to all students on an individual/group basis, via mentoring sessions and to signpost where relevant Promoting British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs for those without faith Carrying out such other duties, as the job develops, as may be reasonably required by the Principal in accordance with the College #39;s flexible approach to the efficient delivery of a quality support service What we rsquo;re looking for in our ideal Learning Mentor: Educated to at least A Level standard or equivalent Competent in the use of IT Ability to relate well to young people of this age range Clear verbal and written communications Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues Good organisational skills Closing Date: 9:00am, Tuesday 30th April 2024 If you feel have the skills and experience to become our Learning Mentor please click lsquo;apply rsquo; today, we rsquo;d love to hear from you!
