Consultant psychiatrist

Join the team at Gateway Recovery Centre as a Consultant Psychiatrist providing care and treatment for men and women in specialist inpatient, rehabilitation and low secure settings. Gateway Recovery Centre is situated in Widnes, close to Liverpool, Manchester, Chester and surrounding areas. There are excellent transport links, which allows the town to be reachable for those travelling across the North West. Gateway Recovery Centre has 70 beds spread across 6 wards. 3 wards constitute the female service providing high quality care to women with complex emotional needs including history of trauma. The other 3 wards provide care to male patients in an autism specialist unit (Cedar ward), low secure ward (Dove ward) and a ward for older men with complex mental health needs and physical health comorbidities (Ash Ward). The team consists currently of 4 consultants, and you will deliver clinical care to a dedicated caseload. You will be supported by a practice nurse and an enhanced GP service to meet patients rsquo; physical healthcare needs. You will have support from a dedicated supervisor and a medical secretary team. You will have access to excellent CPD, and the support of a large peer group of enthusiastic and high-calibre consultants from varied specialties. Your responsibilities will include: Providing RC and consultant psychiatrist input to inpatients in specialist services (18- 20 inpatients) Participation in a low frequency second- on-call regional medical rota Assessing new referrals to ensure that the service meets the needs of those who are appropriately admitted. Providing leadership to the clinical team and contributing to clinical governance and service development Ensuring the highest standards throughout all levels of the service Ensure high quality liaison and good relationships with external agencies such as commissioning bodies. Contributing to the training and education To be successful in your application, you will need: To hold MRCPsych or equivalent, and a CCT in general adult psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, psychiatry of LD or medical psychotherapy Full GMC registration and to have had an appraisal within the 12 months. Section 12 (2) approval and AC status Experience of working within a MDT in providing care for patients with complex needs Experience in psychotherapeutic approaches to management of personality disorders is desirable.
