Design engineer

About the job This is an exciting opportunity to join the business as a Mechanical Design Engineer. As part of the engineering team, you will work on a variety of design projects including nuclear plants and associated equipment. You will be involved with the full circle of mechanical design and should be able to work independently. Location Cumbria, North west Key responsibilities * To produce robust and compliant design solutions from clients or project specifications and national standards. * Be proficient in creating 3D CAD Models (inventor or Solidworks) and 2D manufacturing drawings (AutoCAD). * To continuously search for, and capture knowledge relating to design activity and apply LFE to new designs. * To produce and verify design calculations. * To work with the Lead Engineers to check and approve designs to ensure the most appropriate and cost-effective solutions are selected to meet customer and regulatory requirements. * Assist and being responsible to meet the project requirements and deadlines in line with the budget and quality targets. What you need for the role. * A degree level qualification in Engineering or similar * Proficiency in tools: AutoCAD, Inventor, Microsoft Excel * Strong technical knowledge in mechanical design (experience of pressure systems, vessels and pipework would be an advantage but not essential). * An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
