About the company: My client is the biggest utility contractor within the UK turning over in excess of GBP300M. They are part of a larger group that has an order book of GBP2.1B. They are a tier one main contractor but they also sub contract utility packages on large contracts. They are a leading provider in the water and wastewater infrastructure sector and employ over 3000 people in the UK. The opportunities to grow within the company are huge, they are always expanding and they like to promote within and reward their employees. The reputation of my client is brilliant - they are known for completing work on time and to a great standard and because of this they have landed some big contracts with HS2 and long term frameworks with Thames Water. About the opportunity: Due to company expansion and a healthy order book, my client is recruiting permanently for a Quantity Surveyor to work on a mains renewal project as part of their Thames Water Capital Delivery Water contract. As a Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for ensuring robust estimates align to scope and make allowance for risks and opportunities; produce commercial performance reports together with cost and value reports; ensure actual costs are monitored and assessed; provide reports on actual costs vs estimate and identify underlying reasons for any variance and resolutions and liaise with the project team to ensure any contractual notifications required and are issued in accordance with the contract. About the requirements: In order to be considered for this opportunity, you will be degree qualified in quantity surveying or commercial management and hold a minimum of 4 years experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the utility industry for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor. You must hold knowledge of NEC 3 forms of contract, hold a strong understanding of both pre and post contract work and be a strong user of excel and sheet automation.
