We have a fantastic opportunity for a locum Speech Language Therapist to join a private organisation, based in Kent. They are seeking a qualified Speech Therapist for 2 days a week with previous Paediatric experience. Job Description bull;To provide a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy provision within our educational establishment for clients with Visual Impairment additional special educational, health and care needs. bull;To be a source of clinical expertise and advice on Speech and Language Therapy and work collaboratively with therapists and other colleagues, students, their families, carers and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure effective interventions outcomes. bull;Working at all times to Health Professionals Council guidelines and The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists standards. Key Tasks and Main Duties bull;To independently plan, manage and prioritise a caseload of students at Dorton College, to meet the individual educational, health and care requirements, being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work and without direct supervision. bull;To use advanced clinical reasoning skills to accurately analyse and interpret highly complex assessment findings from both standardised and non-standardised assessments, in order to help contribute to an accurate diagnosis, prognosis or intervention. bull;To accurately analyse and interpret complex clinical and social information from a range of sources e.g. medical reports, Social Services and Education reports and integrate it appropriately into SaLT assessments, report and strategies. bull;Assess and make recommendations and/or reports regarding need for SaLT for students or prospective students and provide comprehensive written reports. bull;To use knowledge and experience to maximise the student progression potential to increase independence, advocation skills and autonomy. bull;To demonstrate the ability to reflect on auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of the students #39; communication levels and to identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness. bull;To independently formulate individualised strategies and plans and implement specialised methods for a wide range of complex conditions, using clinical reasoning, current principles and evidence-based practice and utilising a wide range of expert SaLT techniques. This may be in a 1:1 context or in groups. bull;To design and update specific SaLT intervention and support programmes and/or protocols for college staff, bull; Support, mentor and provide regular training for college staff or wider teams, as needed. bull; Work with the multi-disciplinary team in providing a comprehensive and holistic service which may include providing advice and guidance to internal and external clients and stakeholders. bull; To maintain timely, comprehensive and accurate student records, consistent with organisational, legal and professional requirements. bull; To provide formal verbal and written reports reflecting highly specialist knowledge for Annual Reviews, the External Assessment processes, College Partnerships, Local Authority requirements and referrals to other Health, education and Social Services professionals. bull;Support the transition of students moving through educational services and into post college destinations, inputting into any communication or transition plans. bull;To plan, organize and deliver specialized training to therapists and multidisciplinary staff through in-service training, supervision, joint working and practical demonstrations. bull;To liaise with and advise other therapists, doctors, consultants, parents, carers etc in order to ensure continuity of care. bull;To monitor, assess and request equipment. bull;To undertake general duties that are deemed to form part of this role (e.g. administration required by the job, attending meetings, networking with relevant professionals, keeping up to date with professional developments and attending relevant training courses). bull;To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the Society #39;s learners/clients and all other children and young people/vulnerable adults that have contact with the organisation. bull;Act as a professional and positive ambassador for the organisation in order to support the Society #39;s mission and profile. bull;Ensure that equality and diversity is embedded in all activities bull;Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the Society #39;s students and all other children and young people/vulnerable adults that have contact with the organisation.
