This is a full-time opportunity, on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites. We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 4 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 8 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly. Remote working is potentially available for some specific roles. Please discuss this with the recruiting manager before accepting an appointment. The central mission of the Safety Surveillance portfolio is to protect the public by appropriately identifying, assessing and managing the risks associated with medical products. In every aspect of this work, we harness the best science, technology, information and professional practice to protect patients in new and impactful ways. The Patient Safety Monitoring Function is responsible for developing and delivering a world class vigilance system to detect and monitor safety signals for medicines, medical devices, vaccines and blood products. The MHRA in partnership with Genomics England is launching a pilot to develop a Yellow Card Biobank to determine the role of genetics in the development of adverse drug and vaccine reactions. The aim of the Biobank is to enable the identification of patients most at risk of harm from side effects due to genetic factors and help reduce their burden on patient lives and on the NHS. Job description What’s the role? The Yellow Card Biobank Research Assistant (Consent/Recruitment) will support the Senior Research Manager to plan and deliver patient recruitment and consent for the Yellow Card Biobank. We are seeking a self-motivated and organised individual with excellent communication skills. Key responsibilities: Support the planning and delivery of recruitment pathways for the Biobank to time and target. Assist in development of the consent system for the Biobank, including ongoing testing and monitoring. Answer patient and healthcare professional questions relating to recruitment or consent, including to undertake consent with the patient. Provide specific support to the Yellow Card Biobank project team in relation to consent and recruitment. Person specification Who are we looking for? Healthcare or life sciences degree or equivalent work experience. Experience of recruitment and consent process on a research study. Experience in producing reports and study documentation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate in a clear, succinct, and engaging manner.
