Job description:
Voneus is a fast-growing broadband and managed services provider is growing its team of engineers. We are looking to enhance our team of network designers with an additional experienced wireless network designer. This role is predominately for someone that is based in and around the Midlands and can travel to our premises in Banbury. This role will be responsible for performing all aspects of the Network Design process on community wireless projects. Thorough understanding of RF theory for Directional and Omni-Directional antennas (Beam path incursions, Fresnel zones, sidelobes etc) This will include a knowledge of difference in channel-widths in most frequencies. Base knowledge in Map and compass to understand bearings/topography. Working with and knowledge on most Microwave radios including but not limited to Ubiquiti, Mikrotik, SIAE and Cambium. Including practical uses and Bandwidth limitations. Working with of Ofcom licensing. UK EIRP regulations for all license-free bands. Using link planning and ‘heat mapping’ applications (Cambium link planner/Airlink/Radio Mobile etc). Design WISP networks using knowledge and experience to ensure clear LoS of links. Liaising with Internal and External stakeholders. Providing Network installations support. Troubleshooting issues on all networking infrastructure. Being a primary point of contact for issues and queries Configuring and deploying network equipment. Adhering to strict policies and processes around security and data protection. Maintaining and managing the content and accuracy of the customer’s asset Project Design You Will: Be able to use photography equipment. Be Willing to travel. Have a Base Knowledge of ‘layer 2’ networking Hold a full driving licence valid in the UK Ability to work at height (ladders/rooftops) Have Basic science and maths Have an understanding of electrical engineering
